Culture is a big thing for me - whether as a business owner or a dev.

What culture did you envision in your pfp here on TronDao? Asking cos I’m a little confused about the hat on the dog, on one end it’s giving an ancient Vietnamese war veteran, on the other it’s giving set in Thailand as a religious monk lol.

There are a few inspirations.

  1. It’s our take on SunDog—SunGou, quite literally means “SunDog” in Chinese.
  1. It’s a Chinese play on the market leader for the chain, the same way PePe has PeiPei on ETH.

I’ve gone a step further by giving SunGou his own identity. The hat is inspired by classic East Asian designs, which is also a nod to TRON’s Chinese origins.

How did I miss the pepe reference?
That’s cool

Haha - it’s subtle, unless you’re looking for it. Thank you - I think it’s a cool model and it makes a lot of sense for a TRON meme.

My goal is to develop the SunGou character and really lean on his Chinese personality - so there are lots of Chinese elements in the NFT collection. I’m looking to add more characters at some point (a little like the boys club).

Would this be centered around manga? Since that’s a huge thing rn in Asian arts.

Hey @manfred_jr,

In developing SunGou, I’ve drawn inspiration from Chinese culture as a whole to capture its depth beyond the common stereotypes.

While SunGou’s design doesn’t strictly adhere to traditional Donghua (Chinese animation) or Manhua (Chinese comics) styles.

It does incorporate subtle elements characteristic of the art forms. For instance, accessories like eye patches are prevalent in Manhua character designs and have been integrated into SunGou’s appearance to reflect that influence. See some elements below that are in the works:

I see his artwork evolving over time with guest artists being invited to reinvent him in their own style - Chinese Manhua illustrators, Chinese designers, etc
You could compare it to BAYC and how artists have come in to add their mutant spin on the original.

This means that with every batch, we can do collabs or runs of artwork that is more stylistically similar to that of traditional Chinese comics while still having the classics.

The artwork look like something that deserve to be inside of a museum, very creative

This looks great - would you allow anyone to add artwork to the Museum?

Thanks :folded_hands: hoping to create such an ecosystem around them that eventually they can be at the same level as Pudgy/Punks. Who knows, maybe even being sold at auction in the future.

Yes and no.
There are specific halls. There are community led ones that are chosen by polls, then there are paid halls where anyone can pay to have their work displayed (effectively acting as paid ad space).
