Wine Vault - blockchain powered fine wines fund (CORK)

Can you tell me more about how Liv-ex is used for valuation? How often is the valuation data updated on your website? Also, could you elaborate on the use of blockchain technology in Wine Vault’s operation and how it benefits investors?

And yeah, if y’all launch a meme coin and offer forum members a chance to get in the IDO before listing I’d take a deep dive without dyor

Pardon my curiosity, my intrigue for your project is fuelled by the fact that I’m a “have a bottle of wine every weekend” kind of guy.

How do you plan to keep the cellar holdings list updated with accurate valuations without the Liv-ex API? Are you using another source for pricing data or do you have a team manually updating the list?

@manfred_jr So what Liv-ex does is they gather fine wines transaction data from the largest traders in the world and uses that data to build a “market value” for wines. An data aggregator like this helps in building a “correct price” for wines. We use the pricing API to update our “cellar holdings table” which then updates the total value cell. This we divide by amount of tokens in circulation and voila, you have an estimated fair/market value of the coin.

Blockchain or really the tokenization of the cellar is the key to drive liquidity and access. If we didn’t have a token model, I’d probably not accept anything smaller than a $10 000 minimum investment because the workload is just too big to onboard one user in a manual way. Since the whole cellar is a tokenized it doesn’t matter if there’s 1 or 1000000 token holders because it’s only one account that gets managed. Onboarding a new member is also very simple → just buy a token and you’re in. We don’t need to do a KYC on you since its an asset backed token and you will do your KYC when you offramp.

Utilizing an AMM for trading also makes buying and selling easier. If you have a personal cellar, you always need to find a buyer for your specific wines. What if you chose something that others don’t like? Then you need to wait longer or give a higher discount to get rid of it. With the token model you sell to the other token holders, much higher liquidity, especially when WV keeps a 15% buffer in the liquidity pool (this is 100% what your bank is required to keep in liquid reserves).

Most of my personal wealth is in fine wines because of a few simple reasons:

  1. It’s one of the best (if not the best) assets classes by performance
  2. It’s a scarce resource. The amount of drinkers is growing while the yields are shrinking (now talking about fine wine)
  3. If shit hits the fan I can’t do anything with stocks, but the wine I can drink.
  4. Fine wines can typically be drank for 50 years and actually majority go up in value as time passes.

What comes to

How do you plan to keep the cellar holdings list updated with accurate valuations without the Liv-ex API?

We do already get the Liv-ex prices but with the current provider they only update once per month. To be honest that’s sufficient enough but we are ambitious and want to build Wine Vault into a true competitor in the market. Fine wines is still a $300 Bn market so there’s a lot of market to concur and we think your “secondary market” approach (though collateral tokenization) will be very interesting for investors.

One last one, airdrops has been more or less like a culture in this space, is there a percentage of the holdings of the project earmarked for airdrops/giveaways?

You ever received an airdrop from USDT or USDC?

Sorry but this is not a meme/hype coin. CORK token holders are not relying on new investors to join. Even if not a single person after this would buy a CORK token, the current token owners would still profit in exactly the same amount as they would if there’s a million new token holders. The CORK token doesn’t care about bull or bear market because the assets backing it have real value and don’t depend on speculation.

Sorry for the long verse, the answer is no, there will be no airdrops

Es una buena respuesta, considero que cuando tratamos de un proyecto con la embergadura de la que está hablando y unos productos de alta calidad, el envío de airdrops quedaría fuera de lugar.
En mi opinión dejaría de ser un proyecto serio.

Hey all! We’ve gotten two almost identical DMs regarding wine suggestions and wanted to see if you think we should build this into a product for Wine Vault? The idea is that you can select a “fine wine” super expensive one (or actually really any wine you like) and ask for alternatives that are very similar in taste? Would a product like this create added value to be a Wine Vault member or is it not relevant in your opinion?

  • I think it would create value and something i’d use!
  • I don’t think it would add value, just focus on the fund!

That kind of feature might attract people who wants to discover more wines without initially having the intention to invest on a web3 platform. So I think the idea is pretty good.

En mi opinión crearía una posibilidad añadida para incorporar personas interesadas en el mundo de la enología, dando más opciones al elegir un tipo de producto con escala de precios.

Yeah… and even if you invest, most people don’t want to drink the $5000 bottles but rather pocket the profits

One day we sure hope to have our own space where we can organize tastings and events!

Having your own storage facility starts making sense once you cross $20M-$50M in stock (depending on average bottle value). That space would obviously be open for all members
