Without privacy, Ethereum fails because having all transactions available publicly for literally anyone to see is far too high a privacy sacrifice for many users, and everyone moves onto centralized solutions that at least somewhat hide your data.

Everything has it pros and cons, centralized will atleast hide your data but a mighty eye is watching. I think cloak saves the day when it comes to privacy.

Thank you for sharing. I am reviewing this project by seeing the video, the intro and a quick look at the source code.
This project offers to obfuscate payments using a “cloaked” payment address.
This looks like a hashed payment address. But it relies on zero knowledge technology. This unfortunately means that it is possible for the project administrator to rugpull all payments. They can do this now or after the project gets popular.
I actually do not see any benefits of using this project where it is already trivial to set up an arbitrary number of addresses using any wallet.
I’m glad to see this experiment. And hoping you will be able to share additional use cases that I might not have seen yet.
No dude their is no zero knowledge technology their in cloak whole magic behind the cloak is based on diffie-helman-key exchange and elliptic curve where sender and receiver computes a shared secret with each other in a secure channel , and with cloak address (I e one time base58 public key) you can receive funds in a new fresh address always hiding your real wallet address. (Ime you can receive funds in unlimited addresses by only one cloak address)
Its based on stealth address if you read about monero’s tech and vitalik’s new blog about stealth address you would get more clearance thank you! @fulldecent
I know you are thinking cloak like railgun ,zkbob and zcash where we can shield and unshielding addresses.But it’s not we are not using any zero knowledge technology just generating a new address for every transaction with the help of a base58 encoded key. you can assume it like those VPN who continually changes IP addresses of their users .
Yeh it makes privacy simple and cheaper , very easy and quick to use unlike other privacy solutions.like tornado railgun @fulldecent

yehgot it ! i was talking about relayers part in that video where i mention zk ! thats not in the working implementation of cloak itself but its a separate relayer mechanism we got in our milestone .
