Cross-Chain STAR-EX [ STAKING gameplay - EXPEDITION ]

Hi everyone, Our team re-entering the hackathon this season with different objective for STAR-EX. Our main focus now is to develop the next gameplay mode, EXPEDITION. Anyone remember STAR-EX features 3 gameplay modes? and all utilizing the same resources:

  • EXCEED RACE
  • EXPLORATION
  • EXPEDITION
This is the link for prev season.

Project Vision:

STAR-EX aims to be a cross-chain, cross-platform, cross-AI, cross-dimension, cross-story, cross-crafting, cross-gameplay, cross-community ecosystem. We foster collaboration among popular and emerging blockchains, uniting them to redefine entertainment and pioneer the next-generation Formula One (F1) of web3-esports but it’s not just a GameFi; STAR-EX is a franchise.

Community:

Whitepaper or Gamebook
BTT Shop Website

Project Info:
Let’s brief this again, the STAR-EX WORLD is akin to a global situation where each country competes for territory to control Earth’s resources. In our game, network chains will fight over STAR-EX Zones to acquire STAR-EX assets controls. These resources can be converted into advanced materials or exported to other chains, following supply-and-demand mechanics. These resources are represented as NFTs.

War Time events will occur weekly, with certain zones becoming neutral periodically. We’re introducing a vast array of NFTs, and we’re still finalizing the rarity for over 500 NFTs. Almost everything in the game is tokenized—from music packs to abilities, zones, and even game modes. Players will need these NFTs to unlock features.

Luckily, all items can be crafted. Players must gather resources to build new NFTs, which they can then sell or use to advance in the game. For example, players can build a Planet and earn royalties from those who visit that zone. However, constructing a planet will require massive amounts of resources and high-tech materials, placing it in the Divine Tier. This makes securing control over zones vital, as certain ships or characters may be incompatible with zones controlled by rival networks.

Project Value:

  • Empowering cross-chain interaction inside the gameplay
  • Collaboration with other network to foster other community introduction
  • Addictive gameplay and multiplayer competitiveness
  • Growing community from many interest (gamer, browser gamer, tron-network, eth-network)

/////////////// PREV-PROGRESS + POST HACKATHON ///////////////

In the previous season, we made an exploration mini-game, and it’s still under development, even though our game dev team is taking a break. We haven’t utilized our previous rewards fully (we’ve used around 20%) because all the progress takes time (UI design, UI animation, lore art, game development, and the game trailer). I’m the only one, as the lead, who can quickly handle the blockchain requirements for our smart contracts. Apparently, I’m the impatient one here, but I’m glad we have clear tasks to do.

We have deployed our first batch of NFTs on BTTC and TRON because it’s the first ARC too.

We delayed our next ARC on Binance to focus on gaining traction and finalising some features (and also because we are waiting for the first episode of our artwork-story, which has been challenging to finalize and streamline the workflow). Since this is taking too much time. There’s feature to integrate all of the ARCs. So when other ARC get spotlight, the previous batch will have late attention too. Such as using combination of crafting from previous season. This is one of the reason we want cross-chain so other community can help the traction, because in the end what’s matter is the rarity and asset within STAR-EX

Last month, we promoted our GameFi introduction at events like EDCON Tokyo and will soon appear at Token2049 Singapore.

Our community stop growing around Aug because we haven’t done well on our update and getting traction from project collab instead. In addition, We are weekly participation in Web3 X-Space (a web3 game-focused discussion). but all of them are okay because we are learning, again waiting whole design team to finalise some of their tasks.

As mentioned, we have initial artwork, concepts, and a few story pages ready, but the TRON ARC (the first episode) still requires about 20 more pages to finalise this show to the public. Future ARCs will cover BNB, Starknet, and other networks. TRON ARC will return in episodes 7 and 8. I’ve written a story about dimensional explorers called AGENT-AREA (yes, I love reading manga and manhwa, so finally writing my own story has been exciting!).

This sci-fi fantasy concept allows us to collaborate widely, even with other web3 projects and a lot of artists in the future—aligning with our goal of open collaboration across communities and chains. Such as we can welcome from the AI-Community, since some of artwork will be used (the ai-picture with realistic below isn’t ours) but this can give you visual what we want to achieve.

The artwork will range from realistic to painting and pixel styles, in line with the diverse visual effects of our game.

The most exciting part of the gameplay is that characters will have multi-presence, meaning each eye sees a different location, and they live simultaneously in both (hint: this ties into a unique gameplay feature—wink, wink).

/////////////// GOALS FOR THIS HACKATHON ///////////////

  • Develop the Staking gameplay (reward NFTs and tokens), similar to STAR ATLAS on Solana, but as an idle game. So it’s like SIMS or clash of clans. Although it wont be fully complete too but we will have our first progress in this hackathon to start the game and players can start staking as well.
  • Considering for the token release $TAR (optional, pending sufficient liquidity between fund allocations to the team).
  • Release Episodes 1 & 2 of the artwork-story (TRON ARC).
  • Release the Exploration game trailer (which has been delayed).
  • Implement Abstract Account for seamless on-chain gaming.

Welcome to Hackathon Season 7, I must commend how this is a nice presentation.
Two things are worthy of note here;

  1. Strong emphasis on multiple game modes (EXCEED RACE, EXPLORATION, and EXPEDITION).
  2. An ambitious vision for a cross-chain GameFi ecosystem.

Can you provide more details on how rarity tiers are assigned to the 500 NFTs and how this ties into gameplay progression?

Hi again, glad to see you still active here.
Every gameplay involves using assets (NFTs) such as spaceships and drones. Initially, players will receive free NFT assets as a starter. Each gameplay rewards NFTs through different systems:

  • EXCEED: Win races to be rewarded with NFTs. Top leaderboard positions will earn more rare NFTs.
  • EXPLORATION: Explore and survive challenges while collecting NFTs.
  • EXPEDITION: Instead of active gameplay, you stake NFT ships and burn other NFTs (such as ammo, food, etc.) to send your ship on a mission. During this mission, you collect NFT rewards passively and earn $TAR tokens, unless someone spies on your expedition crew and steals or destroys your mission.

Benefits of Higher Rarity in Each Gameplay:

  • EXPEDITION: Higher rarity ships offer faster defenses and offenses, along with additional features such as the ability to steal rewards or even disable enemy ships for a certain period.
  • EXPLORATION: Higher rarity equipment improves your ability to handle challenges and survive. Since each zone has tiers, higher-tier zones present greater challenges with better rewards. Continually playing in easier zones limits your ability to craft better assets. This aspect combines RPG elements with NFT gameplay.
  • EXCEED: Higher rarity ships enhance your abilities and make winning easier, even with lower-tier ships.

The game focuses heavily on crafting NFTs to provide a unique experience. Obtaining required asset materials (NFTs) offers advantages, either through marketplace sales or in-game use. Like any MMORPG, you need these assets, but here they are tokenized as NFTs. The game features over 300 in-game assets (like ores, stones, minerals, spaceships, outposts, and planets) and over 200 utility items (such as music packs, HUD elements, and abilities).

For rarity tier, every chains will have basic tier-1 assets (despite similar items but different chain, this still affect the cross-crafting combo later)
and some Chain has its own exclusive asset too.

Of course, something like a rock will have different rarity compared to a ship or even a planet.
Because a planet can offer incentive programs and require a significant amount of resources, the requirements for acquiring or utilizing a planet could be quite substantial. For example, the requirements might include:

  • Metals and Ores: 5,000 units of various metals (e.g., iron, titanium, platinum) for construction and infrastructure.
  • Liquid Resources: 2,000 units of essential liquids (e.g., water, alien compounds) for terraforming and sustaining the environment.
  • Energy Sources: 1,000 units of high-energy resources (e.g., fusion cells, power crystals) for powering the planet’s systems and technologies.
  • Quantum Stabilizer: A rare item required to stabilize the planet’s core and atmosphere, ensuring long-term viability.
  • CERT APPROVAL from leader factions who govern in that territory
  • etc

Welcome to season 7
Indeed STAR-EX-PEDITION is looking incredible,
Your vision, progress, and story are impressive.
I’m eager to see your Expedition gameplay, rewards, and seamless gaming integration. Good luck buddy.

Oh wow I am gladden to be seeing this is set in India as I consider India to be one of the tech capital of the world and also a very big economy, please tell me how are you going to do to ensure the privacy and security of sensitive trading data, thank you

Our GameFi platform does not collect sensitive data, and we use Account Abstraction (AA) implementation to allow users to log in via Web2 providers such as Gmail or GitHub, which generates a new blockchain address. This makes it more difficult to hack the account address compared to direct wallet services like MetaMask and also this authentication model has become the standard too. (you need to avoid that only offer email-pw, discord login, and perhaps random wallet connection)

For more information, you can refer to these articles:

Regarding privacy, blockchain transactions are transparent, all transactions history are visible and while data is stored in a byte system, skilled hackers can still track users. They are often more interested in targeting users than the system itself. Therefore, we focus on educating users about avoiding scams and following best practices, and we do not assume responsibility for individual user actions.

welcome back team, any improvement in terms of players from last Hackatron?

It’s quite commendable how your responses are well coordinated and outlined with graphics for a broader perspective, goes to show the level of attention you put into detailing. Moving forward, will there be a maximum number of planets per faction, or will factions be able to acquire as many planets as they have the resources to claim?

Post-hackathon S6, we completed a project collaboration and saw an increase in users. However, around August, we were unable to grow further due to a lack of updates and delays while waiting for the design team to finalize various issues. We could push forward with shilling or more project collaborations, but this approach won’t foster genuine interest in our franchise.

Each month, we have testers, but they are the same people from web-gamer community (roughly 5-20 people). Therefore, we need to wait until our artwork, story, and game trailer are completed before we can improve visibility and gain more traction from the art community, novel/manga enthusiasts, and web2 game fans.

Instead of waiting for those plans to be finalized, we are continuing progress on the second gameplay mode, focusing on staking idle. Developing action gameplay takes more time and is more uncertain. Indie games can take years to develop unless there is significant funding to accelerate the process, especially given the multiplayer matchmaking and ambitious vision of our gameplay. So staking-gameplay only focus on UI and removed the complexity of game physics logic.

You’re reply has clear my doubts that I was having for privacy and security, please tell me just in the case that a user lose access to their Web2 account, what will the process for the account recovery, thank you

Yes, there will be a maximum, which will depend on demand and supply. We still need to adjust the balance and set up governance to manage updates from the community.

This is similar to how Dota games are updated over time. We won’t release everything all at once. Instead, we plan to release low-tier rarity NFTs first, gain traction, and then release the next tier, and so on. This approach helps make the balance more predictable and avoids overwhelming future updates. I want both the developers and players to grow their understanding of the game, as it has a vast world. By taking a step-by-step approach, users and other developers will become familiar with the game’s world and anticipate future releases in batches.

If this were a solo gameplay experience, we could complete the world-building and push for a game release. However, since it is a multiplayer game, we also need to make adjustments based on community feedback to ensure we’re ready to release the high-tier content later.

did you win any prize last season?

Oh wow, I like how you piece every response together and your approach to releasing game content step by step is quite commendable, it’s quite glaring that this gradual rollout would allow adaptation to feedback and maintain player interest over time.
You’ve mentioned the importance of community feedback for adjusting the game, how do you plan to collect and prioritize this feedback? Will you use in-game surveys, community forums, or specific beta test groups?

This approach totally allows for the collection of organic feedback.
As your community grows, managing feedback and ensuring productive discussions will become more challenging, do you have plans to appoint moderators or community managers to maintain a positive environment and guide discussions?

yes we already have moderator and low-key CM right now.
you can join our STAR EX and look around

we hve our own operation team, it will scale when community is growing too, but we want to hire KOL (web3-influencer) soon as CM.
I met the founder of https://www.protokols.io from event providing those, and several team to handle our TGE soon but still weighing some decisions

After going through the game focuses I will like to know the rewards for players from acquiring and utilizing rare assets and I will also like to know if there are plans been set aside for external market partnership.

I must confess, you really got a strategic move to amplify your project’s reach and credibility, especially as you approach your Token Generation Event (TGE).
Reading through your response it low-key sounds like open positions available and that brings me to my next question;

What criteria will you use to select KOLs for your project? Will you prioritize influencers with deep knowledge of Web3, GameFi, or those with broader gaming communities?
If yes, I’m pitching my tent right now as someone that has been KoL, Moderator, and Project Manager for quite a few projects, we could talk about how I may be a perfect fit for the role if you’re interested.
