Introducing miniMEME: The IoT-Blockchain Fusion for Tron!



Hello Tron community!

I’m excited to introduce miniMEME, a project that combines the power of blockchain with the world of IoT, bringing Tron meme culture to life in a fun, visual way. The idea came to me while enjoying the creativity of Sunpump meme coins, and I thought: “How cool would it be to display these newly added Tron meme coins on an internet-connected picture frame?” That’s how miniMEME was started!

What is miniMEME?

miniMEME is an ESP32-based IoT device that connects to the internet and displays meme images, live memecoin prices, TRX price highlights, and more—all in a beautifully designed, dashboard-style interface. With its easy-to-use web interface, you can control everything from slideshow speed to screen orientation, right from your browser!

  • Meme Slideshow: Watch a slideshow of your favourite Tron memes right on your device.
  • Real-time Memecoin Prices: Stay updated with the latest memecoin prices and 5-minute price changes.
  • Prominent TRX Price Display: See the current TRX price at a glance.
  • Date & Time Display: Keep track of time while enjoying the memes.
  • Web Interface: Control settings like screen orientation, slideshow speed, and start a fullscreen random stack collage mode.



Why miniMEME?
Blockchain and IoT have been hyped for years, but real-world, fun applications have been few and far between. miniMEME changes that by showcasing Tron blockchain meme coins in a unique and interactive way. It’s user-friendly, affordable, and brings the meme culture to your desk in real-time!

Project Goal:

The primary goal of miniMEME is to create a fun and practical demonstration of how the Tron blockchain can be integrated with IoT technology, using an affordable, low-power device like the ESP32.
By displaying meme coin images and real-time cryptocurrency data, miniMEME showcases the potential of decentralized applications in the IoT space.
The project aims to make blockchain technology accessible and entertaining while providing users with an interactive experience that blends art, finance, and technology in an easy-to-use platform.

Project Milestones:

Milestone 1 - Finished

  • Create the first version of miniMEME opensource client and server side software
  • Make everything aivible to download and try
  • Introduce miniMEME to the Tron community on Devpost and Tron DAO Forum
  • Create Discord and telegram groups

Milestone 2 - unfinished

  • Move the server backend onto a remote server so that it can run 24/7
  • Integrate a wifi setup manager that makes it possible to enter the wifi credentials of your wifi network with the use of a mobile phone that connect directly to the device. (no hardcoding needed / headless setup / makes it more user friendly )
  • Create a one file installation method for the client, that would take less than 5 min to install on a new board (No need to install the Arduino IDE and libraries, makes it more user friendly)
  • Add more Slideshow effect
  • Make use of the boards 2 hardware buttons to switch screens / slideshow effects
  • Add improvements and fixes suggested by users of the miniMEME community

Welcome to hackaTron S7. Seeing that your project aims to creatively combines the Tron blockchain with IoT technology by displaying meme coin images and real-time cryptocurrency data, I would like to know how you decide which meme coins to showcase.

Again, where is your major source of cryptocurrency data, and how do you ensure their accuracy and reliability in real-time displays?

To answer your questions:

  • It will slideshow the freshly added meme coin images from:
    sunpump.meme

  • The meme coin images are fetched and prepared for the tiny device by the miniMEME backend server software.

  • Meme Coin price data comes from the dexscreener.com API.

  • Meme coin price, and the 5 minute price change is updated when the slideshow is at the first image

  • The list of coins shown on the left is a top 7 based on market cap, but in a future version it would maybe be best to make it where the user can change this list with the use of the web interface. It could than show the users 7 favourite coins.

You mean all the memecoins launched on sunpump.meme?
Recently, there has been a high rate of some scam projects launched on sunpump.meme that did pump and dumb. Don’t you think it will be best to have a criteria for a memecoin to secure a spot in your platform to prevent littering your display with those scams?

When look at it from the art point of view those latest ones hold the most real-time artistic value, you never know what comes next and that is most surprising and fun. Someone had to pay to put it on Sunpump so there probably is some meaning and purpose behind the image.

For example someone just posted the meme of the guy that ordered 2 pizza’s for 10.000 BTC will it pump? this i dont know but it is fun and informative to see also these kind of memes pop up on the tiny device.

Now the main screen is showing latest meme coin image slideshow, with top 7 meme coin prices, and TRX price. But i am thinking to add other modes that can be switched to with the web interface or with the onboard buttons. it could than have a mode that will show a specific well established coin in a prominent way on the screen.

a other option or mode to add could be to slideshow only the coins that have been established and listed on Sunswap.

miniMEME is a fantastic project with a lot of potential.
It demonstrates a creative and user-centric approach to showcasing the power of Tron and IoT.
I’m super excited to see how it evolves but I have a question

  • my question is based on the security aspect how will users data and meme coin information be secured within loT device and during communication with the server.

It’s a stand alone, low power, always on, inexpensive device, it can also inform and entertain you (and others) while you are not behind your phone or computer, but just walking by it or when doing other things and looking with a quick glance to the device. it’s like a digital photo frame / extra screen with dynamical data from the Tron blockchain that you can put anywhere.

Welcome to hackathon S7 Sir, In my understanding minimeme is a device that show picture and information about Tron cryptocurrency on a screen, still trying to understand it better.

What other things can it do besides showing names and prices?

Thank you very much, the tiny device does not have a opperrating system like Windows, Linux or Android, it is a single board computer programmed in c++ with limited computing power and functionality, programs need to be compiled and written to the board and this makes it challenging to make the board do things.

The best way to look at it, is to see it as a Digital photo frame that you can put on your desk but with Tron blockchain specific features.

  • At the moment there is no need to secure it because the data used is publicly available.
  • The stored meme coin images are stored temporary until overwritten with new meme images.

Latest updates


miniMEME Server

  • When the sunpump.meme website reached a set amount of memes (maybe 100 ?) the image class name is than being updated, this would result in the miniMEMEscraper not being able to scrape and prepare images from that location. The class name would than need to be updated manually in the servers popup.js file.

This latest fix makes sure that the miniMEME server continues to scrape and prepare memes even when the class name on Sunpump was changed.

  • The website and simulator slide shows are now more uniform in sliding
  • The background slideshow now has a soft blur effect to bring more focus on the introduction text and simulator

To answer your question, at the moment there is no rewards system in place. but there might be rewards for using the device in the future, but this needs to be further looked into and is not yet developed.
