Ridex : Ride Booking with Blockchain Security and Efficiency!

Project Name: Ridex

Project Track: Web

Project Goal:

  • The Ridex project aims to create a decentralized platform where riders and drivers can book rides or carpool using blockchain technology. The platform will facilitate transparent, secure, and trustless transactions between users without relying on a central authority, allowing riders to book rides and drivers to offer services in a peer-to-peer environment.

Project Value:
The value of the Ridex project lies in its ability to:

  1. Decentralization: Eliminating intermediaries (like traditional ride-sharing companies), reducing costs for both riders and drivers, and ensuring fairness.
  2. Transparency: Utilizing blockchain technology ensures that all transactions are visible and immutable, building trust between riders and drivers.
  3. Security: Smart contracts guarantee that payments and ride agreements are executed automatically and securely, reducing the risk of fraud.
  4. Peer-to-Peer Engagement: Riders and drivers can directly interact, setting terms for rides in a fair and open market.
  5. Reduced Costs: Without a central platform charging commissions, users can enjoy lower fees for services.
  6. Incentive Structures: Blockchain allows for new reward mechanisms, where users can earn tokens for participating, driving loyalty and engagement.

This creates a more autonomous, efficient, and cost-effective ride-booking ecosystem.

Welcome to Hackathon Season 7, leveraging blockchain technology to create a decentralized ride-booking platform is a promising concept.
What mechanisms will be implemented to verify users (both drivers and riders) to ensure safety and reliability?

Welcome to the hackathon session
I have read your project and I can see that you are introducing something new in the transport industry. This is nice but there are some challenges that this will pose for example the presence of the traditional intermediary help in putting a check to the excesses of the drivers. Then with the elimination of this intermediaries I have this question for you

  1. How will disagreement between drivers and riders be resolved in terms of dispute
  2. How will you handle the issue of defaulting drivers?
  3. Will there be a reputation or rating systems in place to ensure quality of service from the drivers and to help users in deciding who to book a ride with and who not to?

Welcome to S7,

  • its 2 apps 1 for rider and 1 for drivers ?

Welcome to the Hackathon of season 7, I will like to see this your project succeeding because I am wow, a project to book ride like we have Uber, please tell me will you have a mobile app, thank you

About the reputation system, it can be added, but solving disputes between drivers and riders would be a tough challenge. We can try two things here.

  1. A middleman who will try to solve disputes
  2. More steps in the trip completion process to ensure the security of trip.

as the first is more reliable and user-friendly it will destroy the purpose of this app and for second solution it will never ensure fairness, it will be always biased towards either rider or driver.

yes, Its a same WebApp for both riders and drivers.

we have not planned for a mobile app yet in future if this project succeed then we will have and mobile app for sure. But we will have a responsive website so it wont be of an issue.

threre isnt a third party verification but we are adding a reputation system as advised by @Chizz for better trust between drivers and riders

Thank you for your replying to me I very well understand that

Thanks for your reply, I clearly get that.
Now moving forward, will users be able to leave anonymous reviews, or will their identities be visible?

I like it that you know the option one will destroy the purpose of the project because you are proposing a platform that will eliminate the traditional way of a third party between riders and drivers. Coming to the second option, what steps come to your mind in introducing to the platform and what will make it not to be fair?

Non anonymous reviews would be better as it will differentiate people with their no of rides and their review will be more reliable than a rider with no rides.

First, to make sure the ride is completed, both the rider and driver will send a request, but here, the rider can default and scam the driver. If we remove the rider’s request, then the driver can default and take away the money without giving a ride. Either way, the solution will be biased toward one of them.

Welcome team Ridex ,I just wanted to say amazing work on this project! The way you’re using blockchain to simplify ride-sharing, cut costs, and boost security is really impressive. Excited to see how Ridex evolves and makes an impact. Keep it up!

Will there be any features for rating or reviewing drivers and riders to ensure trust and quality service?

Welcome to season 7 of hackathon
Your project is truly amazing, knowing it’s aim is to create a more transparent, safe, and affordable way to move around.

I will like to know how you will the platform be design to be friendly to user especially for those who are not familiar technology.

yes we are working on it, will be done by EOD

I be looking forward to the update, have a wonderful day

Non anonymous reviews totally adds accountability and transparency to the reputation system, way to go! As ride frequency increases, will older reviews become less relevant in the reputation calculation?
