Hi @nana66419, how have you been?
Hope you’re okay?

About the smart meter everything is going perfectly
The circuit is complicated and also a very vital information to share outside to avoid people taking advantage of it, I will be dropping a very good summary about how it will work, components used and their functionality.
I will also be taking questions and “whys”
Thank you for checking up on me

Hello everyone,
@darkness @nana66419 @gordian @fabsltsa @antonio @emerchant @manfred_jr @nweke-nature1.com @claw @sirluke @h_p
Today I will be briefing you all on what I labeled as What’s next for Tron power

Smart Meter

What is a smart meter?
A smart meter is a device that measures and records the amount of electricity consumed by a user and uses blockchain technology to securely store and manage the data. The meter will be used to track the amount of energy used by a consumer , prosumer and determine their account balance in real-time.
Wether the meter turns off or On this will be dependant on the user’s balance.

What components are used to build the circuit and how will it work?

Major significant components used are:

    1. Relay: This will be in charge of cutting off power based on the user’s balance.
    1. Arduino: This is a microcontroller that will be used to send data to other device’s telling them how to operate. Instructions will be written in C++.
    1. Espruino: This is a wifi module that can act as a micro controller, it supports JavaScript so it will be used to communicate with the smart contract to do the following-

deduct the amount of energy used from the users balance based on the meter readings
Check user balance and send the data to the arduino

    1. LCD : This will be used to show users balance without having to check the Tronpower platform
    1. Current Sensor: preferably ACS712 this will be use to measure the current flowing through the circuit.

To answer a question asked by @prince-onscolo

What differentiates this smart meter to the regular one used here in Ghana is (Espruino) normal smart meter makes use of a GSM module. We won’t be needing this feature and also we won’t need a wifi module as espruino has an inbuilt wifi module.

I will be taking all questions. Thank you for listening.

Hi jeosphine, nice lecture good job.
I will be happy to invite you to a student conference call later next month if you’d be down.
Once again kudos to you.

Showing user balance without checking the Tron power platform is really a great development, that’s nice :+1: keep it up and continue building,… wishing you all the best :handshake:

Haha, I have put in my best effort and I am confident that we will be able to achieve our goal. Recently I spoke to some past lecturers from KNUST and had a few restless nights.
I’m also considering adding more team members after this S4.

Regarding the question of whether users will pay for subscription fees, my opinion is that it would be reasonable for prosumers and producers to be charged a small fee, while consumers should not be required to pay.

What do you think?

@Emmanuelx @precious @jayceajaere @emma1 @antonio thank you for your kind words

This was really a nice read, kudos to the team for the update, shows the amount of work being put behind the scenes, quite commendable efforts.

How will the smart meter be integrated into the TronPower platform to facilitate real-time tracking and management of energy consumption?

Will the smart meter be compatible with different types of renewable energy sources, or will it be limited to a specific type of energy?

Yh prosumers and producers paying little fees is a step in the right direction. You are doing very great.

With this, creating a solar farm for the purpose of selling to neighbors will be a very lucrative venture.

Nice project an interesting innovation this could be the leading solution to energy problem in the world

The idea is great i would like to see it come to fruition and how it’ll impact the world

Hi @manfred_jr
The smart meter is connected to the building and power supply (solar farm for example ) using a wired connection
Then this meter is connected to the blockchain wirelessly using the Espruino micro controller.

Yes the smart meter is compatible with any power source.
