Your favorite topic you can't stop talking about

Imagine a Voice discussion circle, where you are invited to participate as a guest.

Like a talking stick circle, you must listen to the 10 participants before recording your voice for a maximum of 90 seconds.

After being recorded, your voice is permanently stored on the blockchain, and creates a decentralized podcast.

What topic would you like to be invited to?

Preservation of environment, wild life and natural resources would be my legacy for the blockchain

We would definitely be in the same circle <3

This is a very brilliant idea, I am thinking it is just like the Blockchain version of the popular app called clubhouse

Hello!

I never heard of clubhouse before, I am installing it right now to try it out

Ideally, the talking club would be integrated with D Library, but that could be built independently first.

Not quite the same idea.

Clubhouse seems like everyone is speaking at the same time.

The talking stick methodology has very strict rules about who can talk, when and how long for, it enforces that after a full circle , when the stick comes back to you, everyone’s knowledge - including yours, have evolved drastically.

Seems like clubhouse doesn’t enforce any order, or duration. More like a group vocal chat.

Also, back in the old days, the talking stick may have to travel hundreds of kilometers to pass it to the next person, and as they called it the 'Wisdom Council` - it could take a year or so to make a full circle.

Using asynchronous recording , it is possible to reproduce this methodology of decision making ( plus I have permission from the Elders who taught me all the original rules )

I like the design though, it looks very cool, and it is great that something like that already exists, so I can copy the design and make it look good on the first shot !

Thank you so much for showing me this app !

This is basically like a audio version of a nft, to be minted on the Blockchain, sounds like the first of it’s kind, way to go!!

yeah

Although, because of the D, the NFT cannot be traded or bought . It has to be public domain.

So I think a good name would be NFD.

I did wrote the D-Voice licence few months ago, but I lost the original, but if I remember correctly:

It is similar to the D-Licence, but in addition:

  • It is forbidden for anyone to modify or copy the original voice.
  • If the voice recording is used anywhere, a reference to the original recording must be provided, so it cannot be taken out of context.
  • it is publicly available and anonymous
  • it cannot be deleted: be careful what you are going to say.

Talking about sport is actually a great example i could build a prototype around!
Because there is always 2 sides of an argument for that red card, or that penalty !

The whole point of the talking circle is to reach consensus ! How to reach consensus when the team you are supporting wins because it has been helped by the referee?

For example, team A wins Team B 2-1, but Team A got a generous penalty, and team B got a player sent off for a foul, and playing 10v11. But the referee didn’t gave a red card for the exact same foul a team A player did earlier, adding some injustice to the game.

Now imagine a circle talking about that match, with 50% of supporters of team A, and 50% of supporters of team B. That would be blaming and teasing - a fun adventure for team B supporter, and a raging one for team A’s supporter, isn’t it?

What would be the methodology to adopt for all participant to actually enjoy the adventure of being part of this talking circle?

I have an idea. But I want to hear suggestions first ^^

Well maybe your grammar is too big for me to understand but what I have in the table in my own view , I maybe right or wrong :joy:, for me it has to start with establishing ground rules, what do I mean, it’s actually by agreeing on basic guidelines such as respectful listening, no interruptions, no personal attacks, and allowing space for all voices to be heard equally to maintain standards.

I think your grammar and ideas are great .
I also think @manfred_jr got the pun

The D. is the name of the Licence used in D Library.

Thank you for all the suggestions, and I agree with all of them.

The way the circle is design is that you cannot interrupt anyone, because this is a voice recording, not a live conversation. And you can only record your voice when it is your turn.
After you finish talking, you have to wait that everyone talk again before making a new recording. This solve the problem of being interrupted.

Also, if someone is disrespectful, then a full circle will allow everyone to flag that person. So it won’t be able to participate in the next circle iteration.

I am not sure if that makes sense.

I think you are right, The purpose of the group talk has to be formulated first !

Hehe Yes exactly, sure it makes sense

In the case of a football match review,

I think the goal would be to separate different types of users, and then group them together.

In general, there are several types of users:

  • 1: Those who want to have an open conversation (fair play)
  • 2: The hardcore supporter - here to just taunt and tease (part of the game)
  • 3: The one who actually didn’t saw the match, and are here to just pretend they did. (trolls)
  • 4: Listeners: those don’t participate, and don’t need an account or a wallet to listen to the circle.

After a few round, it would become clear which bucket a user belongs to.

They will then be reassigned a new circle, the fairplay together (would become more like a talk show)

The ones that like to have a verbal fight together ( it is a show of its own ! )

And all the trolls together, so they can also have fun trolling each others.

And everyone is then happy, and having a great time. The legendary circles would then be ranked by the participants (and listeners).

@manfred_jr Although the NFD itself cannot be traded, the system could be monetized with a membership, or a tip system.

Like a comment? Tip it with a bit of TRX.

When a participant is popular, the sum of tips will give them a free membership.
It would work the same with the best trolls too.

@HODL Although, this is a project that hasn’t been started yet, this talking circle design has been proven to work across thousands of years on all continents.

The ultimate plan is to integrate it to the Library, so each book got a talking circle assigned to it.
But as you can see, it works with pretty much with everything, This is why it could be adapted to different topics (not only books).

But because of the public nature of the system (D-Licence based) - I would like to enforce a D-Safe environment - so children can visit safely the circles too. And whatever is discussed is ethical in a way that it is safe for all, and also the environment.
