Chiru Labs Messed Up Big Time
The release of Chiru Labs’ Azuki Elementals collection was meant to be a hit. The collection was first teased last week at a holders-only event held in Las Vegas titled “Follow the Rabbit.”
The clever marketing campaign was pretty successful. The collection sold out in 15 minutes, netting the company roughly $38M. The new NFTs raced off the virtual shelves so quickly that the digital assets didn’t get a chance to go to a public sale.
But, not long after, people on Twitter started noticing similarities between Elementals and the original Azuki collection, which was released in February 2022.
The similarities between the 2 collections led to a massive sell-off. Analytics revealed a nearly 400% increase in Azuki NFT sales compared to the previous week, while the prices fell from over 14 $ETH to 9.7 $ETH in just one day.
Just like that, the company broke the community’s trust, leading to a massive drop in price for all their collections…
