Project Details: People rely on pharmaceutical drugs and medications to manage chronic illnesses, prevent pregnancies, and treat life threatening diseases. Yet, people unknowingly consume counterfeit drugs every day, putting their lives at great risk. Hexagon is a drug authentication and verification system that allow users look up the information (effects, use, etc.) and validity of a drug.
For normal users, they can use our platform to validate the authenticity of a drug they just bought (by scanning a code) or just to get more information about the drug.
Sometimes there are new discoveries about a drug which might affect how the drug should be used, dosage, side effects etc… HEXAGON allows manufacturers to update these information and also make it available to the user(they are able to get their information directly from the manufacturer)
As for the first question, the main reason is that HEXAGON uses cryptographic algorithm to verify drugs authenticity, other reasons include transparency, decentralization and being censorship resistant.
Then you would have to make it accessible and simplified for the users, due to the fact that blockchain technology haven’t gone to the place where it can be used to track drugs authentications.
With a major view of eradicating substandard products, we aim at diversifying way beyond just drugs and making sure revenues spend on sub-standards are reduced, including risked lives.
