K-Lock by cilok - your key to unbreakable security

Project Name: K-Lock
Project Track: Web3
Team Name: Cilok

Project Goal:
In response to the rising security threats and vulnerabilities, K-Lock aims to revolutionize home security systems. Our mission is to provide a robust and tamper-proof solution that ensures the safety of personal property and privacy. By combining blockchain technology with Internet Of Things, K-Lock offers a new level of security that traditional systems cannot match. Through verified ownership and clear ownership verification using Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), K-Lock strives to create a safer world for everyone.

Project Value:
K-Lock offers unparalleled security. Traditional locks can be vulnerable to tampering, but our system is virtually impervious to such attacks. Every time someone wants to open the door, the transaction (unlocking) will automatically be recorded on the blockchain system, making it almost impossible to break into the existing system.

By integrating a blockchain system in our product, we also ensure that only the owner of the master key has absolute rights to the key, meaning that even we as developers do not have access to force open the lock. We see many cases where the security service provider can still open the lock forcibly if needed for government purposes. For us, privacy and security is an absolute right for everyone, so the company certainly cannot interrupt matters related to user privacy at all.

Project Details:
In recent years, the security has become increasingly vulnerable. Statistics show a rise in crimes related to inadequate home security systems, leading to a significant loss of personal property and breaches of privacy. A study by the Global Security Index indicates a 30% increase in home invasions linked to compromised security systems. according to the United States Department of Justice yearly data there are 2.5 million burglaries annually in the United States, with over half of these being home invasions. There are also Reports from the International Security Association highlight that 70% of burglaries involve forced entry due to weak locks. The current trajectory of security breaches is unsustainable and poses a severe risk to personal safety and privacy. Immediate action is required to prevent further escalation of these crimes.

To solve these problems, we created K-Lock. K-Lock introduces a revolutionary blockchain-based security system that integrates Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) with smart lock technology. This system ensures that only verified owners can access locked doors, providing a robust layer of security.

The K-Lock system stands out for its robust security features, user-friendly interface, and reliable ownership verification process. By harnessing the power of blockchain technology, K-Lock ensures that each lock is virtually impervious to tampering, offering users a level of security that traditional systems cannot match. The simplicity of the system is another significant advantage; users can quickly gain access to their secured items through a straightforward scan and transfer process, eliminating the hassle of traditional keys and combinations. Furthermore, the use of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) for ownership verification provides a clear and indisputable proof of ownership, which is crucial in preventing unauthorized access and enhancing the overall security of the system. These features collectively make K-Lock an innovative solution in the realm of personal and property security.

Welcome to Hackathon Season 6.
From my read I can deduce that the project ā€œK-Lockā€ by Cilok aims to revolutionize home security systems by integrating blockchain technology with IoT devices.

For clarity, Iā€™ve a question;
Can you elaborate on the process of obtaining home safety certification and the importance of this milestone for K-Lock?

Welcome to Grand hackathon season 6, itā€™s still mixed on my end that i canā€™t fully decide,ā€¦ please the security you are talking about is it IRL or Virtual?

Welcome to tron hackathon season 6.
What specific vulnerabilities in traditional home security systems does K-Lock aim to address?

Hi @manfred_jr , really sorry it takes a long time for u to get the answer.

About the home safety certification we have some objective that we want to achieve. FIrst is gain user trust, Certification provides assurance to users that K-Lock is a reliable and secure product. It instills trust by demonstrating that the lock has undergone rigorous testing and meets industry standards.
Second thing is about a legal complience, Some regions or industries require certified security products. By obtaining certification, K-Lock ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
And the last thing is, we watn to show to our user that we aims to give users full control over their keys. With K-Lock, only the owner of the master key has absolute rights. Even our developers cannot force open the lock, ensuring user privacy.

So after we get the certification for the smart lock standart, we can tap into a larger market. Thats why it is an important step that we have to do

Hi, really sorry it take a long time to answer it.

The security weā€™re addressing is for a real-world smart lock. Currently, weā€™re in the process of building the prototype for this innovative lock system. It aims to enhance physical security by integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional lock mechanisms. Rest assured, our focus is on tangible security solutions that users can interact with in their everyday lives.

Hi there! Have you already considered how this will be implemented offline? How can I integrate such a system into my own environment?

Hi @Andreaxino

For the traditional key, the is some vulnerabilities that i have stated in description and deck. But my top of mind reason is

  1. Loss or Misplacement of Keys, Traditional keys can be easily lost or misplaced. When this happens, unauthorized individuals might find and use them to gain access to your home.
2.Forced Entry with Duplicate Keys, Conventional locks can be vulnerable to forced entry using duplicate keys. If someone creates a copy of your key without your knowledge, they can easily unlock your door.
  2. Limited Access Control, With traditional locks, itā€™s challenging to grant temporary or one-time access to specific individuals. For example, if you need to allow a repair technician into your home, youā€™d have to provide them with a physical key.

And if ur concern is about the available smart lock in the market right now, there is several reaso. First is about encryption vulnerabilities, Some smart locks use encryption methods that can still be susceptible to hacking or unauthorized access. Second thing is existing smart locks provider often store user data on centralized servers maintained by the manufacturer. This centralization increases the risk of data breaches.

Hi @maksb Yes absolutely, we already create the prototype for the smart lock that designed to work seamlessly offline. If you want to integrate with our system, first you have to acquiring the K-Lock smart lock and thee smart lock comes with a unique product key that youā€™ll need during the setup process.

After that, you have to physically install the K-Lock smart lock on your door and nsure that the lock is securely mounted and aligned. After that u just have to pair the smart lock on our website by register your product code on our website to get the home owner key NFT. And to access other features, you can see how to use them in the projetc test instruction.

Hopefully that answer your question!

These are really great points on the importance of obtaining home safety certification for K-Lock.

How does K-Lock plan to communicate the benefits of home safety certification to potential customers, especially those who may not be familiar with the importance of such certifications in the security industry?

Very ambitious! Could you provide more details on how geolocation are utilized in K-Lockā€™s operation?

Hi @maksb

Our Smartlock verifies that the smartphone is within a certain proximity range (2m) before allowing any door-related actions, K-Lock utilizes BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology to establish a connection between the userā€™s smartphone and the smart lock. By doing so, we minimizes the risk of unauthorized access unless their smartphone is physically close to the lock or within the geofenced area.

Hi, well the certifications arenā€™t the primary selling point of our product, but they play a crucial role in establishing credibility. By emphasizing that K-Lockā€™s smart locks have undergone rigorous testing and meet industry standards, potential customers gain confidence in the productā€™s reliability. Additionally, K-Lock can educate users about the significance of certifications, assuring them that their security needs are met. Incorporating certification logos in marketing materials, sharing success stories, and comparing certified locks to non-certified alternatives further reinforce the importance of these credentials.

Now itā€™s clearer. Thank you for the explanation. I wish you good luck in your development and hackathon!

Social media always plays a big role in spreading the word about the project. If your social media is ready, can you share it? Letā€™s follow and support

Thanks for clarity on the certifications, goodluck on everything as Hackathon progresses.

Hello K-Lock team, your project is interesting & innovative, however Iā€™m wondering if you have a complete working electronic lock system already. For the project to be eligible an MVP is needed, and related to this project itself that would mean:

  • An electronic lock system with IOT capabilities (pending)
  • Your sever side system (done) or mobile app for unlocking (pending)

If the complete system MVP is unavailable I recommend you to wait for Season 7 until you have it ready :slight_smile: as it is still early to prove that your system will work as intended by the judges. }

Thank you for your understanding and keep building!
