A quick update - especially for those interested in crypto regulation/compliance:

The TREE Foundation has for the past few weeks been working with two global auditing companies (big 4 auditors) to design the world’s first “physical to digital reserve” audit. This is an voluntary audit we wanted to create to build an extra layer of trust for the TREE community.

Key points:

  • A type of proof-of-reservers that bridges from crypto to the physical world
  • Verifies that the TREE Foundations forest ownership matches 1:1m2 with tokens in circulation.
  • Modeled from ISRS 4400
  • Audit done by a global, well recognized 3rd party auditor

We plan to complete this audit template early 2023 and chose the partner we will continue doing these with. This audit seems to be first of its kind and has been received well.

Especially after the recent events in the industry, we believe it’s better to proactively add layers of trust where they serve a purpose and believe our physical collateralization audit is a great example of this.
