For this Hackathon, we have listened to your feedback and understand that the community would like to see completed projects being awarded. Therefore, for this hackathon, you will be submitting a complete project or project that is near completion so make sure to have your project ready and submitted before the deadline. You need to have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that is hosted online so the judges and the community can check out the project directly. Projects that have smart contracts will need to be deployed onto the testnet or mainnet.

There are $975,000 of prizes to be won if you participate on DevPost, among the total 6 tracks. A panel of judges will choose the winners through the DevPost platform.

TRON DAO Forum posting is required for this Hackathon as many of you requested projects to interact with the community. All projects are required to sign up on the TRON DAO Forum and start posting your Hackathon project to our Hackathon 2022 Season 3 category when submission opens on September 20th, 2022. There will be $225,000 in prizes for the forum and forum winners will be chosen by the community through polling.

A new bonus award introduced in TRON Grand Hackathon S3 is a 5000 USDD New Project Engagement Prize awarded by TRON DAO. This prize will be awarded to a project that has continued to keep the community updated with forum post progress and engagement but has yet to receive a prize. So, it is beneficial if you make your project post right away and keep the community updated throughout the Hackathon.

We have also added 2 new tracks for season 3:

  1. Ecosystem Track - This will feature the Ethereum blockchain this season and focus on attracting Ethereum projects looking to expand their reach. This track will be centered around the mass adoption of blockchain technology and innovative cross-chain solutions. TRON has always supported cross-chain functionality as it is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Now with the further development of the BitTorrent Chain, developers have more flexible options to deploy on and interact between different L1 blockchain ecosystems. Projects joining the Ecosystem track will have to be pure Ethereum projects. If your project is on TRON or BTTC, you must join one of the four tracks - Web3, NFT, DeFi or GameFi. Winners of the Ecosystem track will not only get hackathon prizes, they will also be given the resources and support to help them convert into our TRON/BTTC ecosystem.

  2. Academy Track - This will concentrate on launching an in-person event designed specifically for currently enrolled university students. It will be positioned as a “hacker house” where students can gather in real life, learn about the TRON ecosystem, and compete with one another for some solid prizes. Please make sure to submit your Academy Track project before November 13 through this link. Note that you will also have to create a project post in the Hackathon 2022 Season 3 category.

The TRON Grand Hackathon 2022 and the TRON DAO Forum are all about possibilities, interactions, and empowering the TRON DAO community to have a say in the digital world. The decentralized web is all about putting the power in the hands of the people. With TRON DAO Hackathon 2022 Season 3, anyone can win a prize, including those who are not participating in the submission of a hackathon project. During the winners’ announcement, ten active and helpful community contributors will be awarded to get a bonus community contributor prize as well! Let’s HackaTRON!

TRON DAO FORUM SUBMISSIONS

In addition, it is REQUIRED to create a Hackathon project post on the TRON DAO Forum during the submission period. You will be posting the same project you will be submitting to the DevPost platform. It is advisable to create a project post early on and update it throughout the hackathon period so that the judges and community can learn about your project as you are building it.

Forum hackathon winners will be selected by the community through the forum poll. Participants that chose to participate on the DevPost platform and the TRON DAO Forum will be eligible to win up to two Hackathon prizes.

Steps to participate:

  • Sign up on TRON DAO Forum
  • Leave your DevPost username saying you want to enter underneath the Season 3 TRON grand Hackathon Post. Make sure to tag @admin.hackathon for visibility.
  • Wait for approval to be added to the Hackathon group which will give you the permission to create a project post on the correct hackathon participant category

REQUIRED:

Web3, DeFi, GameFi, NFT and Ecosystem tracks are required to submit their projects to BOTH the Devpost platform and also create a TRON DAO Forum project post.

Important:
Academy track projects are required to submit the registration form through another platform (register and submit Academy Project here) and create a TRON DAO Forum project post.

Please make sure not to leave project submission till the last minute as there are several questions related to your project that you will be answering during project submission.

PRIZING STRUCTURE

There will be 6 tracks for you to participate in - Web3, DeFi, GameFi, NFT, Academy, and Ecosystem. If your project covers multiple tracks, simply chose the most relevant track that describes your project.

All Hackathon prizes will be paid out in USDD. With the new introduction of USDD, which is a decentralized stablecoin that depends on an on-chain mechanism & currently fully collateralized assets, we are excited to see how projects can utilize and build around it. USDD circulates on TRON, BSC, Ethereum, and other networks via the cross-chain protocol BitTorrent Chain (BTTC). The new PSM (Peg Stability Module) is one of the tools to help keep USDD stable and allows users to swap between USDD and other stablecoins ( USDT, USDC, TUSD) at a 1:1 rate. You can find it here.

Web3, DeFi, GameFi and NFT will have the same prizing structure as below:

1st Prize $60k
2nd Prize $50k
3rd Prize $40k
4th Prize $30k
5th Prize $20k

The Academy Track prizing structure is below:

1st Place $15k
2nd Place $10k
3rd Place $9k
4th Place $8k
5th Place $7k
1st Runner Up $5k
2nd Runner Up $5k
3rd Runner Up $5k
4th Runner Up $5k
5th Runner Up $5k

The Ecosystem prizing structure will be split into 2 themes. One of the themes will win the technical prize and the other will win the creative prize. A separate panel of judges for Ecosystem will select the top 10 best Ecosystem track projects and assign them a winner’s slot based on if they are more technical or creative. Ecosystem track participants do not need to specify a theme when they join and can win prizes from either one of the themes. The following is the prize structure for both:

1st Place $15k
2nd Place $12.5k
3rd Place $10k
4th Place $7.5k
5th Place $5k

Participating in the TRON DAO Forum will also enable you to win one of the forum track prizes. Each of the 5 tracks will have the same prizing structure as below:

1st Place $10k
2nd Place $9k
3rd Place $8k
4th Place $7k
5th Place $6k

The Academy Track for the community forum prizing is as follows:

1st Place $5k
2nd Place $4k
3rd Place $3k
4th Place $2k
5th Place $1k

There are 3 additional bonus prizes to be won for this season of the TRON Grand Hackathon! You can even win one of the community contributor prizes without coding in the hackathon!

  • Bonus: Devpost Community Prize $1,000 - Determined by popular choice voting on Devpost by DevPost community members.
  • Bonus: Project Engagement Prize $5,000 - Determined by the TRON DAO team based on a project’s engagement on their forum post with the community. Awarded to a project that did not win another prize.
  • Bonus: Community Contributor Prize $5,000 - Determined by the TRON DAO team based on an individual’s valuable contributions during the hackathon. Awarded to individuals who did not win another prize. The individual does not need to be a hackathon project participant. Up to 10 individuals may split this prize pool with a minimum of $500 per person.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Technicality & Design
What is tech like? Is it user-friendly and does it have comprehensive and efficient features? Is it designed to scale?
  • Business Model & Feasibility

  • Usability
What is the user experience like? Is it clean and intuitive such that users not familiar with blockchain can easily interact with the program?
  • Practicality & Use Case
Is this something the community would actually use and want? Will the idea have an impact on the crypto community?

How does your idea increase crypto adoption, value for its users, and innovation in the field of blockchain? Does it welcome new users and help existing users?
