First of all, thanks for making it here guys!

TRON DAO is thrilled to launch the 2022 Grand Hackathon. The future is not far from widespread decentralized storage, decentralized applications, digital assets, and cryptocurrency wallets. With the increasing use of decentralized, peer-to-peer, and secure networks, blockchain is becoming the backbone of Web 3.0 - the decentralized web.

The TRON Grand Hackathon 2022 creates opportunities for unheard talents to make their marks and accelerate the development of Web 3.0 while promoting the growth of the blockchain ecosystem at the same time.

Be aware that this Grand Hackathon will be an ongoing funding event, commencing every three months, to promote the growth of the TRON and BTTC ecosystem. The first hackathon will begin on February 14, 2022. There are 3 planned hackathon seasons for this year alone so if you are not ready for the first hackathon season, make sure to mark your calendar and check back later!

Rules

  • Programming language

    BitTorrent Chain (BTTC) supports interoperability with the public chains of TRON, Ethereum, or Binance Smart Chain. For on-chain-related projects, candidates will program Solidity, which will work on TRON, Ethereum, or Binance Smart Chain.

  • Track’s review panel

    There will be a permanent review panel throughout the Hackathon and a dynamic special guest review panel for each session. Each track’s final review panel will consist of crypto experts, KOLs, and a public community review board, whose scores account for 30%, 30%, and 40%, respectively. Community reviewers will transparently vote on the TRON DAO Forum.

  • Community review board

    The community will begin voting on the TRON DAO Forum at the start of each judging period, which will last for four days.

Submission requirements

  • Publicly accessible code repo (i.e., Github)

  • A deck with introduction and proposed project solution

  • During the submission period, the candidate will have to post their project publicly to the TRON DAO forum with details including but not limited to:

    1. Project introduction
    2. Expected milestones and achievements
    3. Screenshots, photos, or renders
    4. A working prototype (optional)
    5. Video (optional)
  • The candidate should also actively answer community questions in their own project thread. The amount of feedback from the community and the quality of posts posted in the candidate’s forum thread will also be taken into account while judging the project.

Event requirements

The winner’s prize will be paid out in milestones.

  • 30% upon starting the project
  • 30% upon achieving at least 50% of the milestone
  • 40% upon completion of the project

Winners of the Hackathon should continue to post progress and answer the community’s questions in their own forum thread to keep the community informed.

The judges will have the final say on whether the expectation of each milestone has been made.

Additional benefits

On top of the prizes, awarded projects with outstanding quality may receive additional support, including but not limited to any of the following:

  1. Additional funding for projects with a large active user base;
  2. Listing on Poloniex and other exchanges supporting the TRON ecosystem;
  3. Fast-track listing on TRON-powered DEXs such as SunSwap;
  4. Included into the dApp section on TronLink with a featured banner;
  5. Promotions on TRONDAO or H.E. Justin Sun’s social media.

Eligibility

A. The Hackathon is open to:

Individuals who are at least the age of majority where they reside as of the time of entry (“Eligible Individuals”);

Organizations (including corporations, not-for-profit corporations and other nonprofit organizations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and other legal entities) that exist and have been organized or incorporated at the time of entry.

B. The Hackathon is not open to:

Any individual or organization that is the subject of sanctions administered or enforced by any country or government or otherwise designated on any list of prohibited or restricted parties (including but not limited to the lists maintained by the United Nations Security Council, the U.S. Government, the European Union or its Member States, or other applicable government authority).

Judging criteria

Eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by the judges. Judges may be employees of the sponsor or third parties, may or may not be listed individually on the hackathon website, and may change before or during the judging period. Judging may take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of judges.

Originality & Creativity

How novel and innovative is the idea? Does it set out to do something unique or at least improve existing models?

Technicality & Design

What is tech like? Is it user-friendly and does it have comprehensive and efficient features? Is it designed to scale?

Business Model & Feasibility

What is the value proposition and how does it set out to differentiate itself? How will it capture the market and/or generate revenue?

Usability

What is the user experience like? Is it clean and intuitive such that users not familiar with blockchain can easily interact with the program?

Practicality & Use Case

Is this something the community would actually use and want? Will the idea have an impact on the crypto community?

Contribution to the Crypto Ecosystem

How does your idea increase crypto adoption, value for its users, and innovation in the field of blockchain? Does it welcome new users and help existing users?

Judges list

The permanent review panel consists of representatives from Kucoin, Huobi, and Poloniex exchanges. More judges will be invited to review the hackathon from time to time so we can evaluate the projects from different perspective.

Why can’t I post to the Hackathon Projects category?
Only hackathon contestants can post to Hackathon Projects category. If you are one of the contestants and could not post to this category, simple message admin.hackathon to enable access. Once you have received a notification stating you have been added to the Hackathon group, you will be able to create your project post.

Should all projects that registered create their project post on the forum?
Posting to the forum is not a hard set requirement but it is highly encourage for contestants to create their project post in the Hackathon Projects section. Contestants that didn't make a public posting of their projects here will miss out on getting the community votes which accounted for 40% of the overall score.

Can contestants continue to update their project post after submitting?
Yes. Contestants are encourage to update their post frequently to keep the project post as detailed as it can be. New users can only edit their post within 7 days. Users with higher trust level will be able to edit their post indefinitely.

Should contestants list milestones to be achieved during and beyond the hackathon event date?
Contestants should keep all the milestone dates presented in the topic template so the judges and the community can judge the project based on the progress made within the submission and event period. Contestants are more than welcome to include additional milestones beyond the hackathon end date so we know where the project is heading. Additional funding may be given to projects with great potential.

Can contestants submit to multiple tracks?
Contestants should choose the track that suits their project best. Contestants can choose to register for multiple tracks if each of their project is vastly different than the other projects they have registered for.

Can project that have been developed register for this hackathon?
We welcome developed project to join this hackathon too. The project team should clearly state what has already been developed before the hackathon and what they expect to achieve during this hackathon. The review scope would be on what has been developed during the hackathon event period rather that what has been developed so far before the hackathon. Any project that add additional value to TRON and BTTC are welcome to participate in this hackathon.

What can contestants do to increase exposure?
Contestants may add images or videos to their project post to make the post attractive. Contestants can also share their project post to their social media to increase exposure. Contestants that are interested to have a livestream with one of the TRON DAO representatives should contact admin.hackathon for further engagement.
