Project Overview

Project Goal:

HeySalad is building the infrastructure to make USDT-TRC20 the default payment method for everyday commerce. We combine AI-powered voice wallets, physical NFC payment terminals, and multi-chain infrastructure to enable seamless cryptocurrency payments at restaurants, retail, and corporate environments — with TRON as our primary settlement layer due to its unmatched speed and low fees.

Unique Value Proposition:

Why TRON?

TRON’s sub-second finality and near-zero fees make it the only viable blockchain for:

  • Micro-transactions at point-of-sale (coffee, meals, retail)

  • Cross-border remittances in African markets where we operate

  • High-frequency B2B settlements for corporate wellness platforms

  • Real-time payment confirmations on NFC terminals

What Makes HeySalad Unique:

  1. Voice-First Crypto Payments

    • Natural language wallet: “Send 50 USDT to John on TRON”

    • Powered by our Kelly-AI conversational engine

    • Asterisk PBX integration for phone-based payments

  2. Physical Payment Hardware

    • Award-winning ESP32 NFC terminals (Avalanche x402 Hackathon Winner)

    • E-paper displays for QR codes, real-time payment status

    • Designed for TRON’s instant confirmations

  3. Multi-Jurisdictional Compliance

    • UK: FCA Small Payment Institution (in progress)

    • Estonia: HeySalad OÜ (EU gateway)

    • Zambia: Bank of Zambia Payment System Business (in progress)

    • Enables compliant TRON adoption across 3 regulatory frameworks

  4. African Market Focus

    • Zambian operations targeting SADC/COMESA regions

    • USDT-TRC20 ideal for cross-border commerce where traditional rails fail

    • Mobile money integration (Airtel, MTN) for fiat on/off-ramps

Project Demo: https://heysalad.app (testnet available, mainnet optimization in progress)

Expected Completion Date for 2025: Q1 2026 (TRON mainnet optimization)

Current Progress (%): 60% - Live products operational, TRON integration in progress

Hey hey, I have 2 quick questions:

  • where did you find sub-second finality info? Block validation is every 3 seconds and finality is usually estimated around 1 minute.
  • For usdt transfers, it requires both energy and bandwidth. So will the system be centralized and on-chain settlement only for deposit/withdrawals? Or will it be decentralized in which case who’s going to cover blockchain fees (or stake TRX to cover those)?

After looking at the website I’m confused about what is exactly the project. A crypto payment system or a cooking AI agent?

Great catch! You’re right - I was being imprecise. TRON’s block time is 3 seconds, finality is ~57 seconds.

What I meant: For point-of-sale, we’re designing to accept payments after 1-2 confirmations (~6 seconds) for transactions under $50, which would still be vastly faster than card settlement (2-3 days).

On energy/bandwidth costs:

Hybrid approach we’re building:

  • Terminals stake TRX (exploring 1000-5000 TRX per terminal) to cover energy for incoming payments

  • Energy delegation APIs for dynamic management

  • Transaction fees (0.5-1%) cover energy costs + margin

  • For high-volume merchants, we’ll batch settlements to reduce per-transaction costs

USDT transfers need ~65k energy + bandwidth. A terminal doing 100 txs/day requires significant staking/rental - exactly what our $50k TRON integration budget addresses.

Would love feedback on energy optimization strategies if you have experience here!

Fair question - our site is confusing!

TL;DR: We’re building crypto payment infrastructure. The restaurant AI is supporting tech, not the core product.

What we’re developing for TRON:

  1. Voice wallet (https://wallet.heysalad.app/) - AI for payment commands

  2. Payment portal (https://heysalad.cash/) - transaction management

  3. NFC payment terminals - hardware for point-of-sale

  4. B2B platform - corporate benefits to be settled in USDT-TRC20

The restaurant connection: Restaurants will be our first merchant vertical. They use our QC/AI tools to run kitchens, and we’re building the system so their customers can pay via TRON terminals.

Currently in development - no live TRON payments yet, but wallet infrastructure is operational on testnet. Payment infrastructure is the goal, restaurant tech is the entry point.

Thanks for the feedback - I’ll update the website to make this clearer!

Batch transactions is what I had in mind. But keep in mind that even if you have 1 batch per 6 seconds in case of high demand for instance (every 2 blocks) it will give you 10 tx per minute which is 14400 per day. Usdt might be 65k energy in some case but recently I’ve had to cover 130k. It depends if the receiver already has usdt in the wallet + dynamic energy fee system that can double the cost or more.

At the moment, 5k TRX staked gives you 47k energy. Not enough for 1 tx per day.

Using energy marketplaces is smart. I just scare that some run out of energy provided (the amount of energy exisiting is capped. Not unlimited, so it’s not scalable to infinite). There is also the fee wallet feature available on Tronlink but I’ve no idea how that works (I’m not a dev).

I think Tron works well if you are a cex and hold a big stack of TRX from users (free energy = free transfers and they can charge $1 to their users for withdrawals :money_mouth_face:). It also works well for freelancers who make a few transactions from time to time. But for people’s everyday use (coffee at Starbucks + restaurant + this and that), or for small businesses if they cover for their customers, the bill can go up a lot if out of energy

Anyways, as you will go multichain, it will let the option for users depending on if they have available energy or not :+1:

Fab really spotted it, it’s gonna suck! for day to use,… . For users who is not familiar with it, will not take it likely

Welcome to TBL btw all the best👍

Welcome to TBL. Forgive me I giggled at the choice of your product name when I first saw your submission. Permit me to ask what the lore/inspiration was behind the name “salad”? Lol  forgive me again
