Should TRON jump into e-sports? (Thinking CS2, Valorant, big LANs… )

I’m not really a gamer myself – my reflexes peaked with Mario Kart on the Wii  – but lately YouTube keeps throwing massive CS2 / Valorant tourney VODs at me.
Last week’s Counter-Strike major in Austin pulled 200 k+ live viewers and the replays are already pushing millions.

It got me thinking:

  • What if TRON slapped itself on a big e-sports stage (or even funded a community cup)?
  • Younger audiences = crypto-curious eyeballs → more buzz for the ecosystem.
  • Could we weave in on-chain prizes, maybe a “win-to-earn” twist?

I have zero experience running tournaments, so I’d love to hear from people who actually follow the scene (or play).

  • Which games would fit TRON best?
  • Sponsorship vs. hosting our own?
  • Any examples of crypto projects that did this right (or horribly wrong)?

Let’s brainstorm! If it sounds dumb, tell me why – if it sounds awesome, let’s talk about it.

What’s the concept gonna be like

It sounds dumb

Tron is specialising in stablecoins transfers/payments. Both the scalability and the cost of the chain aren’t adapted to add on top of that gaming micro transactions. It is not economically interesting for games to build on Tron or for gamers to play on Tron. It isn’t the main focus of Trondao to support gaming development in the ecosystem. That’s my honest pov

If what you meant is run off-chain tournaments, just send prizes on-chain, then ok, could be interesting.

At this point I am sure that you didn’t read the paragraph, just the title for sure.

Projects with sponsors like 1XBET and Redbull get a lot of views and views. Sometimes they just organize it themselves. TRON can do the same.

No one said let’s organize an esports competition in a gamefi game developed on the TRON Blockchain. ofc a challenging espor game cannot be developed in blockchain.

Thank u for tagging me :folded_hands:

I absolutely love this idea. I’ve been into gaming since forever. My team used to organize & host online gaming tourneys before we entered the blockchain space. I even found out about Tron thru gaming. While searching for live stream gaming platforms, my teammate came across Dlive. That’s how I found the Tron blockchain.

Tron community & my passion for gaming is what inspired us to build uDawg_bot games. As of now, we’ve been regularly organizing Weekly Contest since 45 weeks, where r community members get rewarded for their off & on-chain participation.

I think CS2, Valorant & PUBG would best. Tron can also look into organizing other sporting events like a football tournament.

Both have great benefits. Tron can sponsor major gaming events or host our own. If we r looking to host I would love to contribute in organizing such events.

I’ve personally experienced Score Milk tournaments, they r definitely doing it right. They’ve been quiet successful with their tourneys & informative to newbies about Tron.
From my experience in hosting online tournaments, I learned that 99% gamers r non-competitive. So, with uDawg_bot our focus is to target casual gamers.

I’m also grateful to the CFT Ecosystem for sponsoring UpDawg Weekly Contest since week 11! :raising_hands:

Fantastic, I’d be looking into Score Mil tournaments, first time I heard it tbh.

Nice to hear that, mate

Hi! I never been involved in esports and I have no clue of how business model works and infrastructure needed, target market, etc.

However, if the market is there, why not to give it a try.

Cheers!

Not much of a gamer myself, but think sponsoring for visibility is a good idea. A CS team or something would be interesting and tap right into the group we would want to attract.

Didn’t a crypto project sponsor Nascar at some point? Can’t remember the details :joy:

Nah I did read but like to be a good old stupid troll from time to time  Apologise if you felt hurt, that was not the purpose :victory_hand:
You didn’t mention on-chain game so I added my second message but for a web3 company it made more sense to have a web3 game tournament. Maybe on BTTC which remains largely underused.
