We’ve taken your feedback into consideration and understand the desire for completed projects to be rewarded in this hackathon. Therefore, we’ve implemented a two-milestone submission process. The first milestone will be announced on May 15th and will be open to all participants who have completed Milestone 1 of their project. Qualifiers will be awarded 30% of the prize money, with the remaining 70% being awarded to those who reach Milestone 2 and have a fully functional Dapp live on the TRON/BTTC mainnet. To ensure fairness and transparency, all projects must have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that is hosted online, and any projects that include smart contracts must be deployed on the testnet or mainnet.

TRON DAO Forum posting is required for this Hackathon as many of you requested projects to interact with the community. All projects are required to sign up on the TRON DAO Forum and start posting your Hackathon project to our Hackathon 2022 Season 4 category when submission opens on February 1st, 2023. There will be 120,000 USDD in prizes for the forum and forum winners will be chosen by the community through polling.

We are excited to announce a new bonus award in the TRON Grand Hackathon S3, the 15,000 USDD New Determination Prize, which will be awarded by TRON DAO to three projects that demonstrate exceptional value to the community. Although these projects may or may not have advanced to the pre-selection round, they will have the opportunity to receive recognition and reward for their continuous hard work to prove themselves. To be eligible for this award, projects must be fully functional on the mainnet by June 1st and have received positive feedback from the community. This is a great chance for you to showcase your skills and creativity and get recognized for your efforts.

We have also added 2 new tracks for Season 4:

  • Builder: For teams who have previously participated in the TRON hackathon and have a working project that they would like to improve upon and update with new features. These projects should demonstrate significant advancements and improvements over their previous versions. Existing hackathon participants who joined with a completely new project may join other tracks.

  • Eco-Friendly Track: Focuses on projects that have a positive impact on the environment. These projects should utilize the capabilities of the TRON/BTTC blockchain to create solutions that promote sustainability, reduce carbon emissions, or otherwise contribute to a greener earth. Examples of potential projects in this track include decentralized renewable energy trading platforms, blockchain-based carbon offset marketplaces, or supply chain traceability solutions for eco-friendly products.

The TRON Grand Hackathon Season 4 and the TRON DAO Forum are all about possibilities, interactions, and empowering the TRON DAO community to have a say in the digital world. The decentralized web is all about putting the power in the hands of the people. With TRON DAO Hackathon 2022 Season 4, anyone can win a prize, including those who are not participating in the submission of a hackathon project. During the winners’ announcement, ten active and helpful community contributors will be awarded to get a bonus community contributor prize as well! Let’s HackaTRON! :computer:

PRIZING STRUCTURE

There will be 6 tracks for you to participate in - Web3, DeFi, GameFi, NFT, Builder, and Eco-Friendly. If your project covers multiple tracks, simply chose the most relevant track that describes your project.

All Hackathon prizes will be paid out in USDD. With the new introduction of USDD, which is a decentralized stablecoin that depends on an on-chain mechanism & currently fully collateralized assets, we are excited to see how projects can utilize and build around it. USDD circulates on TRON, BSC, Ethereum, and other networks via the cross-chain protocol BitTorrent Chain (BTTC). The new PSM (Peg Stability Module) 3 is one of the tools to help keep USDD stable and allows users to swap between USDD and other stablecoins ( USDT, USDC, TUSD) at a 1:1 rate. You can find it here.

Web3, DeFi, GameFi, NFT, Builder, and Eco-Friendly will have the prizing structure as below:

1st Prize 20k USDD

2nd Prize 15k USDD

3rd Prize 10k USDD

4th Prize 8k USDD

5th Prize 6k USDD

Participating in the TRON DAO Forum will also enable you to win one of the forum track prizes. Each of the 5 tracks will have the same prizing structure as below:

1st Place 6k USDD

2nd Place 5k USDD

3rd Place 4k USDD

4th Place 3k USDD

5th Place 2k USDD

There are 3 additional bonus prizes to be won for this season of the TRON Grand Hackathon! You can even win one of the community contributor prizes without coding in the hackathon!

  • Bonus: Determination Prize 15,000 USDD - TRON DAO will award 5,000 USDD each to up to 3 projects that have not received any prizes but are valuable to the community, are fully functional on mainnet by June 1st and have received positive feedback.
  • Bonus: Project Engagement Prize 6,000 USDD - TRON DAO pick two projects that have good engagement with the community but have yet to receive any prizes (3k USDD per project | 2 in total) Projects must complete https://gleam.io/J6xM2/s4-hackatron to be eligible for this prize.
  • Bonus: Community Contributor Prize 5,000 USDD - Determined by the TRON DAO team based on an individual’s valuable contributions during the hackathon. Awarded to individuals who did not win another prize. The individual does not need to be a hackathon project participant. Up to 10 individuals may split this prize pool with a minimum of 500 USDD per person.

Q. How long will it take for the forum approval to post in the Hackathon 2022 Season 4 category?
It will typically take less than 24 hours for the approval to take place. If you are still not able to create your project post after 24 hours, please send a private message to admin.hackathon and provide your DoraHacks username again. However, during the end of the submission period, the pending queue may be longer if the number of participants that have yet to submit to the forum is large. It will be the participant’s responsibility if they could not be approved to post their project in time as there’s a 2.5-month period for participants to take action.

Q. What do I need to do after posting a project to the forum?
You will need to ensure you submit your complete project before the deadline on DoraHacks. Additionally, you will have to make sure you are actively monitoring your project post and answering the community’s questions. Make sure to post new updates to your project post often to get community members engaged as they are the ones that will be voting during the judging period and choose 5 winners per track from forum hackathon participants.

Q. Can I join the hackathon if I already have an existing developed/developing project?
Yes. You can still join the hackathon provided that you have made significant updates or new feature additions to your project. Please make sure to use the Builder tag as that is the only category you can qualify for IF you are using the same project from past TRON Hackathons. Projects found not making any significant updates during the hackathon period will be disqualified.

Q. How do we define significant updates for existing projects?
Significant updates can be defined as updates that are major enough to be presented as an entirely new project itself and not merely a cosmetic change or minor functionalities that still largely depend on a previous project. For existing hackathon projects joining the BUILDER track, please ensure that you explain clearly the previous state and new state of your project to convince the hackathon team the updates made should be considered significant updates.

Q. Can I join the hackathon if I have participated in TRON Grand Hackathon 2022 Season 1, 2, or 3?
You are more than welcome to join season 4 of the hackathon if you have launched your existing hackathon project for the community to use. Please make sure to use the Builder tag as that is the only category you can qualify for IF you are using the same project from past TRON Hackathons. Each judge will make their own decisions on how they treat pre-built projects vs new projects. You will need to signup on DoraHacks like the rest of the participants and create a new project post under TRON Hackathon > Hackathon 2022 Season 4

Q. What are the differences between TRON Grand Hackathon 2022 Season 3 and Season 4?
Season 4 adds 2 new tracks Builder and Eco-Friendly. There is a determination prize so participants that have not made it to the pre-selection round can continue to keep building and prove themselves, potentially winning one of three determination prizes.

Q: What are the requirements for the hackathon milestones?
A: The first milestone will be on either mainnet or testnet, but the final project must be live on mainnet.

Q. How to find the number of Hackathon S4 registrants so far?
You may check live hackathon participants on HackaTRON Season 4 - TRON Grand Hackathon | Hackathon | DoraHacks at the “BUIDLs” tab. You may also check all submitted Forum entries for S4 here - Hackathon 2022 Season 4

Q. Will there still be community voting for S4?
Yes. TRON DAO Forum community members will pick the qualifiers for Forum participants from May 1 - May 7, 2023.

All Tronics that meet the minimum requirements to vote will be able to participate in the community voting polls.

Q. Can I reward people to vote for my project?
Any type of reward is considered vote buying. Rewarding voters for voting for your project may result in disqualification. TRON DAO will be monitoring closely to make sure that all voting is done fairly. If you notice any projects that are practicing vote buying, please feel free to inform us so we can take further action.

Q. Some projects are using bots to boost their voting?
The TRON DAO Hackathon team is always monitoring the voting process and analyzing bot accounts. After the voting period, there is a time for checking spam/bot voting. The Hackathon team may penalize participants who are dishonest and may even disqualify participants that are against the rules to keep the hackathon voting process fair.

The hackathon team will strive to make the voting process fair for every participant in the hackathon.

Q. Will TRON DAO release the Judge’s scores to the projects?
Due to the nature of how the DoraHacks platform works, we are unable to release personal scores or provide judges’ feedback for each project as the platform doesn’t support it. The DoraHacks team will be evaluating and checking all judges’ scores and assigning the Hackathon winners.

Q: What if my project is completed by the first milestone?
A: Projects are encouraged to keep building and have reasonable milestones throughout the hackathon period. The hackathon team may also reach out to participants to discuss and plan further milestones during the pre-selection round or judging period. If a project is simple and has met the requirements for the first milestone, the hackathon team may reach out to offer suggestions for improvement and growth opportunities.

Q. What if I still have other questions?
Feel free to leave your questions in this thread and our hackathon support team will get back to you publicly ASAP.

Glad to see that the milestone system is back :fire: That will hopefully bring more dapps to mainnet :muscle:
Not a big fan of the builder track since I think everybody should compete together but it will be interesting to see previous winners competing against each other and pushing each other to deliver the best products :raised_hands:

@admin.hackathon I think that the requirement to use the builder track for previous participants needs to be better specified.

My understanding is that the deciding factor is if a project has been presented before, not if a Team/Dev has participated before. So if a team has presented different projects in the previous hackathons and presents a new project in S4 it can run in any of the tracks.

Let me put it plainly: USTX Team run in all previous editions with different projects (Voting+Teleport bridge in S1, WARP in S2 and T-Boost in S3), if we want to present a new dApp for S4, can we participate in any track?

I hope, and how I feel it may be intended, to be more for a specific project that exists, but are adding new features to the project. So not so much a team developing a whole new project.

That’s where I could be wrong, but how I’m hoping it is. Otherwise existing teams who are leading new development won’t be as committed to advancing tron.

It has been specified yesterday in the twitter space that previous participants can apply for a normal track if the project/product is totally different with previous ones. It should go to builder track if the project is a significant update/improvement of a previously presented product. Not too sure what’s written in the rules. I have to take the time reading it all today.

So basically the answer to your question is yes. If you present a brand new product you can apply for DeFi/nft/gamefi/web3 tracks.

@admin.hackathon will like to see some new innovations in season 4 now that people have had some time to come up with new ideas.

Also will be good to catch up with older projects to see how far they have progressed since the last hackathon

@admin.hackathon Thanks for updating the rules as there was a bit of concern over past projects regularly competing :+1:
