Bot accounts being Basic

As you all know, it takes almost 1 day to open an account and make it basic. We have seen this in previous posts and user comments.

Why are there so many basic accounts?

  • Because it is both easy and advantageous for a person or a team to open basic accounts with voting features to boost their own projects.

How can this be prevented?

  • The first option does not prevent this and everyone in the forum is allowed to do whatever they want. However, accounts opened at a time when voting is approaching (accounts opened during the period from the end of September and the beginning of October 2024 until the voting) are especially carefully examined. These accounts generally do not do anything other than liking and commenting on a specific project. Most likely, since the voting is also secret, they only vote on that a SPECIFIC project in that track. Does it make sense for these votes to be considered invalid? Of course, there may be real people in between. However, it also means that a large bot mass will be cleaned. Although it seems like a paradox, it is a logical solution.
  • The other option is to activate the accounts with the KYC feature (long name “Know Your Customer”), so that forum members have only one account attached to their identity. People still can make announcements on social media to get votes on the forum (which is so norma) and the people who come prove that they are human. However, this can also have a negative result for users who do want to be anonymous and can significantly reduce forum interactions.

I know that IP control and similar parts have already been done in detail by the admins. I did not feel the need to mention them again.
What are your thoughts on this issue? It would be great for everyone if you shared them.

I’ve suggested a kind of KYC last season but hasn’t been followed. Problem would be to have legit users willing to pass the KYC while fraudster might find a way to bypass it.
I still think something linked to HTX for instance would be possible. For instance pass KYC level 1 on HTX and send UID screenshot to admin or something like that. Not too sure for USA resident if possible tho.

This is a really logical solution. In this way, people can trust HTX and move forward from here. However, a new question will arise in people’s minds: How safe is it to open an account on HTX, and this can again reduce the overall interaction on the forum. Because opening an account and moving around becomes complicated.

HTX is a top exchange having close relation with Justin Sun and Trondao. That should be enough for Tronics

I have said this number of times, new accounts created during voting period and even old accounts who only login during voting period. One must go through at 70% of submissions if not all to know the well deserved projects.

Normally most of us vote for the projects we know and this why I was not supporting changes in community voting prize

Sometimes when I wake up I see the same person have commented 10-20 projects presentation in 10-20 minutes. How on earth can someone read, understand and evaluate a project + post a comment in less than a minute :joy:

Btw feel free to flag any suspicious account to let the team know they should give extra attention. That’s how we can keep the place clean :clinking_glasses:

I see some comments be like people copying and pasting our own project’s description in comments wtf? ? Whats the purpose of this.

Bro, thank you for getting this out. I will just be thinking, people are smarter than me. And got me thinking, how many minutes they spend on each project to read on each project details like website and so.

And you check their account, mostly new accounts fighting for voting badges and top tier chatgpt user.

Lols.

They think that posting tons of comment will give them the right to vote faster. Which is actually not accurate at all :joy:

Or maybe they want to get the contributor prize and spam as much as they can but here again, they’ll just get excluded from the list.

Best way to get the trust level one or contributor prize is to use the forum normally and be genuinely interested in projects and what’s going on on the network.

Basically, better to look stupid but ask genuine questions (there is no stupid question and everybody started with 0 knowledge at some point) than try to look smart using ChatGPT

Check website links, they have mostly been clicked 5-6 times :joy:
YouTube videos often have 2-3 views, knowing that the team probably watched it after publishing haha

Dear Bro, honestly, I love your energy and contribution in this forum.

We have been battling bot account here for some session
And seems it getting bigger each session.
But the admin have ways of cracking them down.

Maybe We have some Added verification Badge (HTX VERIFIED) that will be best for voting new criteria.

And with those metric, I will asked if I’m so dumb to believe where all THOSE their

LMAO , I doubt judges don’t watch the videos either

I love this approach, yes, we have newbies and if they coming genuine, and from from their questions we will know and guide them.

Not coming from the newbies pov and boasted with chatgpt content. Best is to learn and the with time earn.

I still learn everyday and not ashamed to ask if I’m not sure or I don’t know

Last season I suggested something about this that reading stats should be considered mostly instead of likes and comments alone, the reading bar should be raised more because most don’t even read topics, they will be just hitting like and comments here and there to the extent of commenting even on previous seasons submission :joy: that is no more relevants to the current topics/discussions

Simply, registration in the forum should’ve some form of kyc that’d be done with a government i.d in your resident country, makes it alot easier.
