Many great suggestions have been giving over the years on this topic. In my opinion one of the best ways is to give options to connect or link our telegram and twitter accounts with our forum account. I would also like to give one more suggestion maybe many of you may not agree with it but I think it could be the best way to prevent fraud voters. Give us the option to link our Tron wallet address with our forum account. And only accounts who have staked 1000 or 100 TRX in the Tron network should be eligible to vote.

Actually could have a soulbound nft offered on a DID platform made by trondao. They could give energy to the contract so people could mint for free.
Then with tronlink, sign a message on the forum and they could control that the wallet holds that nft.
It doesn’t prevent people from asking friends and family to mint that nft just to resell votes or pump their own project but it would limit it as nobody really wants to share their ID easily.

Great suggestions from you all but like @fabsltsa said linking our HTX account will definitely make users from the U.S ineligible to vote. There is this security infrastructure I have seen many platforms using which I think will be great if we can adapt to it. The infrastructure will ask new users to record their face and make 3 circles with their head. The purpose of this is to give a face to every account that will be created and ensure that a user doesn’t have more than 1 account. @SimbadMarino do you have any opinion on this?

On one hand I like to think about how to make the hackathon more safe, but on another hand, I think a lot of legit people won’t be willing to share biometrics data just to be able to vote.
For me the best choice is to split:
- Judges prize: funds to help projects to keep building
- Community prize: an invitation to join an accelerator that will help the project with co-marketing and networking
Marketing costs a lot of money to projects who really want to keep building. So it won’t change much for them. It will actually be even better cause marketing agencies cost an arm. For those who expected to get fast free money by tricking the community vote system, they won’t have anything to win since they didn’t intend to keep running the project.

Since biometrics is not requesting for any personal information of the user, I don’t think a genuine person will find it difficult to do. And more, only the admins get to see the faces behind every account, the users can still use any pfp of their choice. So basically, there is no security concerns a user should be afraid of while making a biometrics.
Great discussion going on here! We are also observing a lot of basic account getting formed, and number of votes increasing very rapidly. While some are building their projects, some people might be busy building new accounts with basic to vote their projects. We think a very basic filter should be to not allow people to vote, who joined after the voting already began. They don’t have followed the projects closely, can be seen randomly pasting ai content on chats to gain basic, so it makes no sense to allow them to vote and decide the fate of projects. Already received some DMs from folks asking to buy votes for $$. Community voting is indeed a very tough things to tackle.

If you prevent new users to vote when the voting period started, fraudsters will just create profiles earlier for the next season. So it’s just a temporary fix. We need something more durable. I think that removing cash prize for community vote could be enough. And instead providing services like advertising on tronscan, ama with trondao, networking with HTX, Poloniex, vc,… for instance

If trondao has connections with marketing agencies, they could get cheaper marketing packages.
So instead of giving let’s say 5k to a winner, he could get the equivalent of 7 or 8k in marketing (KOL boost, press release,…).

Right, this definitely makes sense. Maybe in judges selected category the number of positions can be increased to 7-10 per track in that case.
But particularly for this season, atleast I am expecting that filtering the new users should def reduce the number of bot account who are voting. Since we are a new project, we didn’t have any idea about this voting process, nor we are trying to bypass it now. But definitely I am convinced that we won’t be able to win in community track, because of these bot accounts. Maximum number of voters don’t even go through any project just vote randomly in other tracks and vote for their specific project.
