Expanding Web3 Identity on Tron with Freename
Freename is planning to integrate Tron into its multi-chain namespace, unlocking new opportunities for Web3 identity, payments, and branding. This integration would allow seamless minting of domains and TLDs on the Tron network, driving greater adoption, utility, and accessibility for Tron-based domains.
In addition to our existing IPFS integration, we are also exploring the integration of BTFS (BitTorrent File System)—a major step forward for decentralized storage within the Tron ecosystem. Since BTFS is owned and operated by Tron, this would ensure native compatibility, enhanced decentralization, and improved data permanence for Web3 domains.
By integrating Tron’s network, we are also considering Web2 domain tokenization and brand protection for businesses looking to secure their digital identity in Web3. This would allow traditional companies to safeguard their brand names on the Tron blockchain, preventing misuse and ensuring a stronger presence in the decentralized internet.
Powering the Tron Ecosystem: Freename’s B2B API Suite
To support Tron’s Web3 expansion, we are preparing a comprehensive API suite, available for free, empowering developers, businesses, and dApps to integrate Web3 domains effortlessly:
Reseller API – Would enable Tron dApps to create and manage their own Web3 namespace, helping projects build stronger branding and identity solutions.
Global Resolution API – Would allow Tron wallets and dApps to resolve Web3 domains, ensuring seamless integration, human-readable addresses, and enabling fiat and crypto payments via domains. Domains could even act as virtual IBANs, providing a decentralized payment gateway for users.
Mirroring API – Would bridge Web2 and Web3 by tokenizing Web2 domains on Tron, allowing businesses to secure their digital identities across both worlds and reinforcing brand protection.

Potential Benefits for Users and Developers
If completed, this integration would allow users and dApps to mint domains and TLDs on the Tron network, unlocking a range of powerful use cases:
Digital Identity – Domains would serve as Web3 usernames for wallets, transactions, and payments.
TLD Monetization – Through TLDs, users and brands could sell and distribute their own branded domains, generating revenue and expanding their presence in Web3.
Web2 Brand Protection – Businesses could tokenize and secure their Web2 domains on Tron, ensuring brand safety and preventing misuse in the decentralized world.
Long-Term Vision: Launching .trx TLD for the Tron Ecosystem
Beyond individual domains, the long-term goal would be to launch the .trx top-level domain, empowering the entire Tron ecosystem with its own branded namespace for users, communities, and projects. This could further cement Tron’s leadership in Web3 identity while providing an exclusive domain space for its growing user base.
This is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to your feedback and discussions as we explore bringing Web3 identity and domains to Tron!
