HackaTRON S7 - $5K Community Contributor Prize

Hey y’all! While we wait for the HackaTRON judging to start, let’s keep things interesting with a community question-and-answer session. :person_raising_hand:

If you’re new to the TRON HackaTRON, here’s a quick overview: You don’t need to be a coding whiz to grab some amazing rewards. Jump into our forum conversations, share your enthusiasm, and engage with the community. Remember to go through the forum posts, especially those featuring projects in Hackathon Season 7, and participate in the discussions. We can’t wait to hear your brilliant ideas and the tough questions you have for the project teams! :raised_hands:

Community Contributor Prize - $5K in total prizes!
We’re rewarding 10 exceptional contributors from the TRON DAO Forum who provide outstanding support and feedback throughout the hackathon, with each receiving $500 in TRX.

Engaging with this post is just the start. If you’re aiming for that Community Contributor Prize, here’s how to get involved:

  • Check out the inspiring projects featured in HackaTRON Season 7 on the forum. Ask thought-provoking questions and explore your curiosities.
  • Lend a helping hand to fellow enthusiasts by sharing your insights and answering their questions.
  • If you come across any suspicious spam or scam posts, alert us, and our dedicated admins will take swift action.
  • Share guides, useful tips, engaging video tutorials, or any wisdom you have to elevate our community and amplify the hackathon spirit.

Let’s jump right into the first two questions now:

1. We’ve asked this a few times before: What is a good platform to suggest for organizing HackaTRON? Based on past community answers, we are currently using DevPost, but we would like to explore new options. Have you tried or heard of any good platforms for us to consider?

2. HackaTRON Season 8 may involve more onsite events. If we were to organize this, would any community team like to co-host or help organize a local onsite HackaTRON with us? For those who aren’t coders, would you be willing to attend an onsite event to connect and engage with the TRON team and other community members if there was a local event near you?

3. How should the team handle responses that rely heavily on ChatGPT?

4. What track would you like to see in the next season, and why?

  1. Actually at first I didn’t like using Devpost but now I think it’s pretty decent. It’s just very hard to find the entries you want to follow if you don’t have a link. Hard to find interesting projects there. Fortunately there is the forum

  2. Where would that be :eyes:

  1. I wouldn’t say much but I think the experience with DevPost so far worth using them. It’s easy to use because we haven’t seen new participants asking for guides on how to make a hackathon post on DevPost.
  2. This is something I have been earnestly looking forward to attend but please let it be in a place most of us, the forum members, can afford the cost to attend events on.

  1. We have tested Devpost for sometime now, I think it’s best we try another platform to explore the opportunities. Though I haven’t tried any platform but I have heard of platforms like Where U Elevate and AngelHack If your team think it’s best, we can try them out.

  2. Onsite event? Who wouldn’t want to attend such :star_struck:

For the first question, it would be pertinent to have the opinion of the participants. Are they able to easily set up their profile and project? How easy it is to manage the portfolio, edit entries,…? Is the layout decent enough for them after publishing? Any particular frustration?

For me a local onsite would be an excellent opportunity to encourage community engagement and collaboration.

welcome team, for me I am enjoying Devpost and I will be happy if we continue using it.

and for the 2nd question, that will be great.
I would be willing to connect and engage

  1. Like @fabsltsa said, we need to hear from the participants because they are the only people who can tell the experiences they’ve had from Devpost. How easy and user-friendly is it for them to create, edit and manage their profiles and project submissions. From their experiences, we can then decide whether to continue with Devpost or try other platforms.

  2. My answer to this is yes. I have been engaging with a lot of people here, both hackaTron participants and forum members, it will be a great experience to have a real life interaction with these great minds.

  1. Devpost for me is smooth, we keep using it.
  2. Attending crypto events in my location is now my new hobby and fastest way of engaging.
So yes I will be willing to attend. Up and active to even help
    Co-host.

Hey  @TronLive good to also interacting and trying to always listen to the voice of the community

  1. As I always said, I would always prefer Devpost again! again!! and again!!! Anyone can easily access Devpost without stress, infact it’s very user friendly in nature

2: should I say that this should not be a question because by mere observation I can beat my chest that 101%+ wants this to be fixed tomorrow if am not mistaken but for me I have been longing for a moment like this to connect and engage with our amazing community  if possible to fight with some too
We are stronger together :muscle:

Devpost works well, would like to keep on using it, but maybe there are better solutions to try.

Onsite hackathon events are often involving (long) travels and with that comes preparations although it probably will also have benefits like onsite dev instruction presentations and meeting up and the bonding can create strong teams, but i would rather skip the traveling and use all that time for developing a project for the hackathon. and have the dev instruction presentations as video for reference during the online hackathon and before the online hackathon have some time to connect with people trough this forum and Discord to find people that are looking for a team.

Another issue with onsite Hackatons is you probably cant / wont bring your comfortable development setup with you, and will need to use a alternative mobile device which slows down the development.

And developers, generally speaking are not characterised as most social so i think it might be harder to attract the same audience. though i think a Tron onsite community event could be interesting to make people connect and create ideas and share experience, but for a hackathon it does not feel very practical.

But i would definitely consider to go to a Tron Event if there would be one nearby, but i like online hackathons more.

Season 8 is unarguably gonna be a blockbuster if ideas/issues like these are being brought up for discourse cause it’s strikingly well thought out. For non coders like myself (but aspiring), I’m 100% open to connecting and meeting up with the team when there’s an event.

So far in the Hackathon things I am liking devpost and I am of the opinion that it should not be changed

You’d surprised spending some time with devs building on Tron. Some are wild when I see real life events photos :joy:

1).Platform for organizing HackaTRON:
DevPost is good, but you could try other platforms like Gitcoin, which is great for Web3 projects, or DoraHacks, which is used for decentralized hackathons. Both could bring something new to HackaTRON.

2).Onsite events for HackaTRON Season 8:
Onsite events sound like a great idea! Partnering with tech groups or universities could help bring more people in. I would definitely attend a local event to meet the TRON team and other community members, and it would be fun to connect and learn more.

  1. Good afternoon. Not heard of any for the moment but I believe DevPost is very much okay.

  2. And yes, I will definitely attend an onsite event to connect with the Tron team and the community members if there is one close to me.
